Planet Drupal

Be the community

I mentioned on Twitter two weeks ago how fantastic DrupalCon Europe was, and after more thought it’s my favorite DrupalCon to date! Not because I got to parody Disney songs wearing Spandex (which I did), and not because I gave an impassioned session about my love of Pattern Lab integration (which I didn't this time around), but for the first time I feel like I have made a vital difference to the community. I didn't contribute though song or sessions or code, instead I was able to connect people to solve problems.

We are Makers!

At “DriesNote”, last Tuesday at DrupalCon Amsterdam, Dries Buytaert, the founder and project lead of Drupal, spoke about his vision of contributors and sponsors and their impact on Drupal’s future. Time and speed are the biggest factors looking ahead. If we want to want to see Drupal continue to grow, and be competitive in the open source market, we need to make sure all aspects are nurtured. This should ensure that both beginners and experts choosing Drupal will enjoy the experience.

1xINTERNET wins two Splash Awards

The International Splash Awards 2019 took place on the 28th of October in Amsterdam. The event was well organised and team 1xINTERNET had a great evening. It was nice to meet our colleagues from all over Europe and see the great selection of work being created with Drupal. Over 75 projects from 13 countries were submitted so the jury had a big task choosing the finalists.

1xINTERNET with three nominations for the Splash Awards

The third international Splash Awards are taking place next Monday night in Amsterdam. This night we will celebrate the best Drupal projects from 2019 with our colleagues from all over Europe. We are very happy at 1xINTERNET to be nominated for three of our projects and grateful at the same time for our amazing clients.

We encourage you to contribute with us

At 1xINTERNET we strongly support contribution to Drupal. In our everyday work we send in patches and fixes, we organize events, we have built distributions and we keep telling our people about the importance of taking part.

Zsofi and Adam join 1xINTERNET

We welcome Zsofi Major and Adam Juran to the 1x team.

At 1xINTERNET we realise how fortunate we have been with our employees in the past. Our 1x family keeps growing and we could not be more grateful. We think it's important to be flexible and supportive towards our employees and we feel like everyone are always doing their best. We can't ask for anything more. Say hello to the newest members of our team!

Using Design Systems in Website Projects

We have been building design systems for many clients in the past two years. In this blog post I want to outline why using design systems has become so popular when building websites and other digital properties.

The challenges many large organizations face is to maintain a consistent branding, corporate design, and usage of approved interaction components across all digital properties. With digital properties I mean all websites, internal systems, social media profiles, email footers, etc.

Atomic Design: Consistency that pays off

Web design has changed significantly in recent years.

In the past all pages of a website were designed individually. Designers often did not pay attention to the re-use of elements, but rather treated all pages separately.

When websites started growing in size and complexity, this often led to inconsistent user experiences, because existing templates were used to display content they were not designed for.

Today, a much more holistic approach to web design is needed, taking current, changing, and future requirements into consideration.

Contributing to Open Source, what's your math?

by: Baddý Sonja Breidert, CEO and co-founder of 1xINTERNET

At 1xINTERNET we actively contribute to Open Source, mainly Drupal. We do this for a reason: it's a key business advantage for 1x to be at the very centre of the technology we rely upon and we see a lot of value in contribution to Open Source. Therefore we have done our math on why this is good for us as a company and employees, as well as for our business strategy.

Why are security updates so important?

In the technical world you will find security updates everywhere, therefore of course also in Drupal.

In this blog post we want to explain why security updates are so important and why they should be done on a regular basis.
