Onboarding at 1xINTERNET

Research has shown that good relationships with colleagues are one of the biggest factors in companies success.  People that are happy at work tend to do a better job and in the end everyone benefits if these things are thought about.  At 1xINTERNET we want our team to shine at work and we want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to grow and develop as employees, this in our opinion will result in better working environment which we want to have for our people. Let us introduce you to Pablo Lara from Sevilla, Spain.

Who is Pablo Lara

I am passionate about technology in general, but have love for computers in particular. I got my first computer when I was 8 years old and since then I haven’t stopped learning about them. I like to ask myself why things work as they do, and apply logic to solve problems.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been interested in computer technologies. At the age of 11, I was already telling people that I wanted to study Engineering, so my passion was easily visible to anyone who knew me from young age.

What made you join 1xINTERNET and what excites you about working here?

After being a freelance web developer for a while, I knew that I wanted to work for a startup and be part of a greater project. After getting to know the team at 1xINTERNET, I fell in love with the company and the mission. As time went on after joining, that initial gut feeling continued to rang true since I am learning more than I could have ever imagined.

I can add value to the organization, while working with modern technology like React, being part of a great community of people, and contributing to open-source. What excites me the most is the opportunity to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds. A healthy remote working culture is another reason why I am here as well, allowing developers to get our job done from anywhere in the world.

Each employee is encouraged to ask questions and join projects that they are interested in. With this type of company culture, boredom and complacency isn’t an option because things move too fast for you to ever settle down.

What are you working on?

I am a frontend developer using Drupal as a framework to develop amazing websites for our customers. Drupal leverages existing open source components, maintained by the community, with security and ease of use in mind, plus accompanying command-line tools and documentation to deploy and use.

What do you like to do for fun?

After work, you’ll usually find me at a tatami training Brazilian JiuJitsu or playing video games. It depends on my mood and the weather. I love spending time outside on a sunny weekend and watching Netflix on grey days. I enjoy good conversation about all and nothing but I can really enjoy a conversation about technology, people, or travel.
