Full time Makers during Drupal 9 porting weekend

This weekend, our whole company will take part in the Drupal 9 porting weekend. Most of the 1xINTERNET team will be focusing solely on Drupal 9, and we made sure to work with our clients to plan this properly and make sure business continuity was in place for everyone. Our aim is to update all of our projects so that they are compatible for Drupal 9.

We are very pleased to be able to contribute in such a powerful way with a worldwide event in our Drupal community, especially as we were looking forward to this day to be spent contributing in Minneapolis.

The event

The first Drupal 9 Porting Day was on April 28, 2020, led by Gábor Hojtsy, Lee Rowlands, Vladimir Roudakov, QED42, Srijan, Adam Bergstein and Mike Lutz. Altogether 126 issues were worked on that resulted in 89 newly Drupal 9 compatible releases on that day and the following two days. We hope this will be as successful and we hope everyone that has the possibility to attend will do so.

Over 1600 modules are already Drupal 9 compatible a month before Drupal 9's release, which is unprecedented. However, there are still lots of modules that only need very small changes and a new release made before the launch on 3rd of June.

The event is led by many great people, but we have to give a shout out to our very own João Ventura, who will be one of the Friday leaders at 1x. To read more about the event, check here.

We have seen the importance of our community clearly in the last months and as before we are grateful to be able to give back to Drupal.  Last August we published Contributing to Open Source, what's your math?, which explains how we look at the importance of being a Maker in the community and how we all benefit when more companies and individuals take part and contribute.
