I strongly believe that it’s important to understand the relationships within project teams

With DrupalCon Europe 2020 approaching fast we wanted to introduce our speakers at the conference to our readers. Who are they and what do they do at 1xINTERNET?  Adam Juran is part of our Front End developer team. At the conference Adam will talk about Content Architecture using Design Patterns.

Joining 1xINTERNET has rekindled my love of learning

Who is Adam Juran? I'm American guy, married and a father of three children age eleven, nine and two, so yes lot's of fun at my household! I live in Brussels at the moment and I have been here for four years now. I studied music at Cornell University so in theory I have not had any formal training in web development on a university level.

How long have you been with 1xINTERNET? I started little over a year ago and work as a Front-End developer. Before I started with 1xINTERNET I worked at Forum One in Alexandria, VA, USA as Senior Front-End Developer

Has anything surprised you starting to work at 1xINTERNET? I’ve been surprised by how much Baddy, Christoph, and Stefan truly care about their team. It might be strange to say it like this, but I feel loved! And not surprisingly I love my job! 1xINTERNET does top notch, cutting edge work and I have gotten to play in some very fun projects. Last but not least, working at 1xINTERNET has rekindled my love of learning and I can’t imagine a better place for me right now.

I strongly believe that it’s important to understand the relationships within project teams

Has working during a pandemic affected you?  I’ve been a remote worker for many years, so the pandemic hasn’t affected my daily routine perhaps as much as others. The lockdown earlier in the year did mean that all three of my kids were always at home which was very stressful. I miss the occasional trips to visit our Frankfurt office; being there is so energising and fun! I also miss being able to do events like DrupalCon in person.

You are one of 1xINTERNET speakers at DrupalCon, what is your session about? My session is titled “Content Architecture using Design Patterns” and it covers the interrelationships of Atomic Design, Content Modeling, and Editorial Experience. Because of its broad scope, nearly everyone will be able to find something of value.

Why this subject? Because I strongly believe that it’s important to understand the relationships within project teams; developers and designers and content editors all have different priorities, but it’s important that they all understand one another’s points of view. The shared understanding can lead to a content architecture that supports everyone’s goals and is simpler to implement and maintain, and in the end that means less stress and less cost which I think we can all agree are positives.

The charm is the people

Have you attended many DrupalCons? I have attended very many and I have great memories from every event. Great pre-notes, great fun, great people. The charm of events like DrupalCon is the people. My first one was a little overwhelming, I didn’t know many people and felt awkward about socialising. But quickly you make new acquaintances and friends, have some great conversations, and over time Cons become a little bit like a huge family reunion!

To sum it up!
